What happened on 19th Feb at the High Court premises( the so-called custodians of law chasing those who plead for it to beat them up) looked like a scene from a Kodambakkam cheap thriller movie! No wonder the octogenerian CM would have lost the little appetite he might have had viewing this from his hospital bed in his own 'Kalaignar' channel that he decided to go on fast!So much of violence and bloodshed!Bharati said:' if the demons were to rule the Holy Scriptures would prescibe canibalism as a sacred writ!'

  1. The matter is really confusing to a lay person like me.

But personally speaking all police personnel and all members of the Bar Council should not be members of any political party. This should be the oath when they take up their jobs.

Except for a scant few in any profession, it is deeply regretted to state that people have more selfish thoughts and this is detrimental to the development of society.

Wish the Srikrishna commission comes with a valuable report of the incident and outcome.

Last but not the least - no one is above the law - if they think they are above the law - then they are not humans.

  2. DEAR ALL
ALL SAID AND DONE, THE LAWYERS STAND IS VERY JUSTIFIED IN THEIR ENDEAVOR TO BRING THE GUILTY POLICE OFFICIALS TO BOOKS FOR
    A) POLICE COMMISSIONER AND ASST COMMISSIONER AND THE LIKES BEING PRESENT INSIDE THE COURT CAMPUS WHICH IS A CLEAR PROOF OF PLANNED ASSAULT.
    B) LATHICHARGE - ON WHOSE ORDER
    C) PERMITTING ARMED POLICE - ON WHOSE ORDER
    D) VANDALISM BY THE POLICE MEN IN DESTROYING THE FOUR WHEELERS AND TWO WHEELERS
    E) NOT HEEDING TO JUDGE'S PLEA TO STOP THE VIOLENCE.

IF THE AIM OF THE POLICE IS TO DISPERSE THE AGITATING LAWYERS THEN WHERE IS THE NEED FOR THE POLICE TO CHASE DOWN THE CHAMBERS AND COURT HALLS IF THE LAWYERS ARE NOT IN THE OPEN.

IN SHORT IT IS JUSTIFIED TO TERM IT AS POLICE BRUTALITY AND EXCESSES.

HAVING SAID THAT, THE EDUCATED BODY SUCH AS THE LAWYERS SHOULD NOT HAVE INDULGED IN ASSAULTING MR SUBRAMANIAM SWAMY NOR CONTINUED THE BOYCOTT FOR TAMILIANS IN SRI LANKA BEYOND A DAY. BY WHICH THE LAWYERS HAVE LOST THE GOOD WILL.

IN SPITE OF IT ALL, THE POLICE BRUTALITY AND EXCESSES ARE NOT JUSTIFIED AND THE ONLY SOLUTION WOULD BE TO TRANSFER THE GUILTY POLICE OFFICIALS AND REACH AN AMICABLE COMPROMISE BETWEEN WARRING FACTIONS AND RESTORE FRIENDSHIP IN THE NAME OF LAW AND ORDER (LAW FROM LAWYERS AND ORDER FROM POLICE).

AS A RANK OUTSIDERS I CAN SEE THAT THE POLICE AND LAWYERS ARE MADE VICTIMS BY THE INVOLVEMENT OF SOME UNRULY POLITICIANS FOR THEIR OWN GAIN.

SO WISHING FOR THE BEST AT THE SOONEST AND LAWYERS AND POLICE SHOULD JOIN HANDS AND RESTORE LAW AND ORDER.

    CAPT GN VNEKAT RAJARAM

  3. In பாரதி கருவூலம் - ஹிந்து நாளிதழில் பாரதியில் எழுத்துகள் (Bharathi Karuvoolam - Uncollected writing of C. Subramania Bharathi from the Hindu), there is a letter addressed by Bharathi to Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, M.P., on "Police Rule in India" that was published in the Hindu dated 10 February, 1914. Even six decades after independence, under our Police Acts, superintendence of police throughout the general police district vests in the state government. An independent police force that is guided by a professional body of experts would be highly desirable to give no room for politics in law and order matters.
